Pak releasing Hafiz Saeed regrettable, says Krishna

New Delhi: External Affairs Minister SM Krishna on Tuesday termed the release of Hafiz Saeed as "regrettable".

Saeed is the founder of the terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) whom India has blamed for the 26/11 Mumbai carnage.

"It is regrettable that Pakistan has resorted to this," Krishna said when asked by reporters for his reaction to the release of Saeed.

He said that the move has "put under a cloud" Pakistan's "seriousness" to bring the 26/11 perpetrators to book.

Asked if it had to do with the question of Kashmir, the minister emphasised: "This has nothing to do with Kashmir. Terrorism, whether in Kashmir, Mumbai or elsewhere is abominable."

"Kashmir is a part of the composite dialogue which we have initiated with Pakistan. It is in Pakistan's part to create conditions for the dialogue to resume," he told reporters.

Earlier, a court in Lahore in Pakistan freed from house arrest Saeed citing insufficient evidence.
