New Delhi: Pakistan on Saturday successfully tested a short-range nuclear-capable ballistic missile, Pakistan military sources said in a statement.
In the second test firing of its kind within a month, the surface-to-surface Abdali ballistic missile – with a range of 200 km – was launched from an undisclosed location inside Pakistan.
The missile can carry all types of warheads and the test was aimed at validation of the desired technical parameters, the statement, issued from Rawalpindi, said.
Last week, Pakistan test-fired a nuclear-capable Hatf-V11 Babur cruise missile with a range of 700 km (435 miles).
Pakistan's latest comes about a week after India tested its indigenously developed air-to-air Astra missile, with a range of up to 50 miles.
Pakistan named its Abdali missile after Ahmad Shah Abdali, an 18th-century Afghan king who attacked India and was accused of plundering the country's riches.
