CHENNAI: A two-year-old Gandhiji, a vibrant Nehru, a sparkling Sarojini Naidu, a gallant Rani Laxmibai, the Ironman Vallabhai Patel and a fearless Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose were all present at the Independence Day celebrations of the Enchanting Elves Playschool in Kilpauk.Wing Commander Anuj Pathak from the Indian Air Force and retired Major S Ram Kumar SM from the Indian Army were the chief guests. Nearly 120 children belonging to the holistic playgroup participated in the event. The children of the playschool put together an act depicting the freedom fighters of India and their respective roles. Aarthi Ram Kumar, Principal, said, “On the 65th Independence Day, we want to bring in the respect and understanding of our country and its armed forces.”Anuj Pathak spoke to the children about the Indian Air Force and how they defend our country in the skies. Major Ram spoke about a young freedom fighter, Tiruppur Kumaran, also known as ‘Kodi Katha’ Kumaran.Children, as young as one-and-a-half-years-old, explained the colours of our National Flag and sang the National Anthem. At the end of the program, the tiny tots shouted “Jai Hind!” in unison.
