THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Sports Minister K B Ganesh Kumar will inaugurate the Physical Activity Programme for Adults (PAPA) of Rajiv Gandhi Sports Medicine Centre at the Cotton Hill Government Girls Higher Secondary School on Monday at 10.30 am. PAPA is the latest of a slew of initiatives launched by the Rajiv Gandhi Sports Medicine Centre that aims at creating a healthy society. PAPA propagates prevention of lifestyle diseases through physical exercises. In the first phase, PAPA will carry out a study on exercises with the help of an International Physical Activity Questionnaire. The respondent group includes State and Central Government employees. A body profile card will also be issued to all respondents. The card will have details including height, weight, body mass index and blood pressure of the respondents. Transport Minister V S Sivakumar will preside over the inaugural function. Mayor K Chandrika will deliver the keynote address. Sports and Youth Affairs Department director Dr Amit Mallik, Rajiv Gandhi Sports Medicine Centre medical officer Dr Sankar Ram, Corporation councillor Suresh Kumar K, Sports and Youth Affairs department additional director S Najumuddeen, PTA president K S Sivakumar, higher secondary principal Mini S and principal Mary Sislet Princilla will speak.
