CUTTACK: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has asked police to submit chargesheet in the alleged Pipili gangrape case. Its regional director visited the SCB Medical College and Hospital (SCBMCH) here on Friday to enquire about the condition of the victim. In his second visit to the hospital within a month, Director, NCSC, Divakar Basak pointed out the delay in filing of the chargesheet in the case by the investigating agency. The DGP should take steps to ensure speedy completion of investigation and filing of the chargesheet, Basak told mediapersons here on Friday. Basak, however, expressed satisfaction over the treatment given to the 19-year-old girl who continues to be in a vegetative state in the Central ICU of the SCBMCH. As far as treatment is concerned, the doctors’ team of SCBMCH along with those from AIIMS and VSSMCH are putting in lot of efforts to revive her from semi-comatose state. The victim is showing some signs of improvement, Basak said.  The hospital authorities said the victim is under round-the-clock care of experts and there has been no deterioration in her condition.  The vital parameters are stable, but nothing can be said with certainty on the chances of full recovery, Superintendent, SCB, Prof. DN Moharana said. That the victim is provided with best possible treatment has also been corroborated by Additional Professor of AIIMS Dr Manjari Tripathi. She has been roped in by the State Government to be a part of the team of experts. She had visited the girl on February 20 and said there was no need to shift her to AIIMS. Basak, on his earlier visit, had advised the Government to bring in a neurologist from AIIMS for providing better medical care to the victim girl.
