Plea for anti-Lanka resolution

PUDUCHERRY: AIADMK Puducherry unit secretary A Anbazhagan MLA on Thursday demanded the convening of a special session of the Territorial Assembly to adopt a resolution urging the Centre to support the proposed US- backed resolution against Sri Lanka  for violation of human rights in the United Nations Human Rights Council  (UNHRC) in Geneva on March 23.Anbazhagan, who sought an adjournment motion on the opening day of the budget session to discuss the human rights violation by Sri Lanka, said he had given a letter to this effect to the Speaker  V Sabapathy.Speaking to newsmen, he deplored the silence maintained by chief minister N Rangasamy on all important issues and criticised him for unilaterally deciding the date for convening the Assembly session on March 28 and getting the signatures of ministers by circulating the decision. Normally the convening of the Assembly session is decided at a cabinet meeting, he said.
