CHENNAI: The PMK will soon unveil a ‘policy vision’ enumerating its stance on public issues and goals in respect of key sectors including agriculture, education, health and sanitation. The party has also launched a special drive-public meetings- to tell people that they are distinctive from others and have plans to put Tamil Nadu on the development highway. This is the first major campaign of the PMK after its decision to sever links with both the AIADMK and DMK besides other national parties and after the civic polls.Be it the policy vision or the special campaign, these are parts of efforts by the PMK to shore up its electoral fortunes through sustained efforts ahead of the distant Lok Sabha elections in 2014.The campaign, christened Puthiya Pathai, Puthiya Arasiyal, (New Path, New Politics) poses interesting questions to the people. An advertisement in Kancheepuram on Sunday said: “New hope with new style of politics. What is new in PMK’s new path? Come, let us find the answer and change the course of history!” In recent times, perhaps no other political party has advertised in a similar innovative fashion to lure the people. Interestingly, such meetings will not be addressed by PMK founder leader Dr S Ramadoss. Instead, Chinnayya, Dr Anbumani, the PMK’s showpiece of independent policy making, will don the mantle.Ramadoss told Express his party would come out with its policy vision statement within a week. “This will speak of party’s stance on sectors including the agriculture and how we hope to bring the change,” he said.
