KOCHI: Every detail of the polling procedure of the crucial Piravom bypoll is set to be just a mouse click away. As part of the efforts to ensure transparency in polling, the Election Commission has decided to webcast the polling procedures in 14 sensitive booths in the constituency.Of the 14 booths, two are under the jurisdiction of Kochi City Police, while the remaining booths are under the Ernakulam Rural Police. Collector P I Sheik Pareeth, who is also the district election officer, on Tuesday visited the polling booths where webcasting will be carried out, along with Rural Police chief K P Philip, and inspected the preparations. They inspected the booths at Traco Cable Recreation Club at Irumbanam and SNDP LP school, where 2,500 voters are expected to exercise their franchise.Other booths from where polling procedures will be web-cast include booths at Kanayannur Junior Basic School, Government HSS, Mulanthuruthy, Azad Memorial LP School, St Mary’s English Medium school at Vettithara, Govt HSS at Ooramana, Govt UP School at Keecheri, St Joseph HSS, Piravom and Mar Ivanios LP School Kizhakombu. These booths come under the jurisdiction of Thiruvankulam, Chottanikkara, Mulanthuruthy, Maneed, Ramamangalam, Ambaloor, Piravom, Thirumaradi and Koothatrukulam panchayats. The trial run of webcasting will be conducted on Friday.
