THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A prisoner arrested under Goonda Act was found hanging in Poojapura Central Prison on Saturday evening. The deceased has been identified as Jacob Elias Abi, 38, of Thiruvalla. He was found hanging on the window bar of the old kitchen, near to the seventh block, which was left unused for a long tim. He is said to have committed the act by using the lungi he was wearing. Fellow prisoners, who were witness to the hanging, immediately informed the prison officials. Though he was rushed to the Medical College Hospital here, he was declared brought dead. The body has been kept at the Medical College Hospital mortuary.Jacob was released from prison only recently after serving a jail term. After his release, he was again arrested under the Goonda Act after he got involved in a couple of criminal cases and was shifted to Poojapura prison on October 25.
