THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Self-Financing Engineering College Managements Association has decided to enter into an agreement with the State Government for 50 percent government quota seats with reduced fees.
The decision was reached at the meeting with the association and the cabinet subcommittee held here on Monday.As per the agreement, the fee for 50 percent seats in government quota will ` 35,000 as during last year. However, managements can collect `25,000 as special fee in half the seats in government quota. Such special fees is already existing in management quota seats. Federation of AllIndia Unaided Professional Colleges Managements Association president G P C Nayar told Express that the agreement will be signed next week.

The annual tuition fee in 50 percent seats allotted to the management quota will be `75,000 and `1.5 lakh refundable caution deposit while the annual tuition fee and refundable deposit for NRI seats will be `90,000 each.

Meanwhile, selffinancing medical colleges under the InterChurch Council apprised the cabinet subcommittee that it had received legal opinion against allotting seats under government quota as admissions had already begun.

There are 900 seats in these five medical colleges with 250 seats at Government Medical College, Kozhikode, 200 at Government Medical College, Thiruvananthapuram, and 150 each at Government Medical Colleges at Kottayam and Thrissur and TD Medical College, Alappuzha.
