Jaipur: Rajasthan police has seized fake Indian currency notes with face value of nearly Rs two lakh and arrested an alleged smuggler in West Bengal when he was boarding a train to this state, officials said on Monday.
Mubin (28) was arrested from Malda district of West Bengal on Sunday and fake notes with face value of Rs 1,99,500 were seized from him by a team of Special Operation Group of Rajasthan police with the help of local police there.
Mubin was nabbed when he was about to board a train to Rajasthan, Additional Director General of Police (ATS ~~amp;amp; SOG) Alok Tripathi said in Jaipur on Monday.
"On information that smugglers bring in fake currency notes to Rajasthan from West Bengal, our team went there to develop sources and verify the fact when it was tipped about the person," he said. "He was arrested with high quality fake notes in denomination of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500," Tripathi said, adding that a case had been registered against him in a police station there.
