New Delhi: She is Bollywood's big, bright star. But apart from that, Rani Mukherjee is also one of the finest actors in the country.
The petite, dreamy-eyed dusky beauty turns 29 on Wednesday amidst industry rumours that she may tie the knot soon and say goodbye to films.
But who wants her to quit?
The actor has given some powerhouse performances in the past and has outdone herself every time. Rani's metamorphosis from the plump starlet to the svelte star would put even butterflies to shame.
She was all of 18 when she did Ghulam with actor Aamir Khan. The song Aati Kya Khandala became an anthem for the youth, and Rani’s still unpolished, raw appeal seemed to be the perfect foil for Khan’s finesse.
Rani will next be seen in Yash Raj's forthcoming film Tara Rum Pum starring opposite actor Saif Ali Khan. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand of Salaam Namaste fame.
Rani had recently told CNN-IBN that acting is her being. “I don’t think I can live without it. I can be away from it for sometime, but can’t give it away completely.”
She then went on to say, “It’s time now to have babies.”
So, even if Rani’s knot-ty affair is to be believed, here’s to seeing much more of Rani this year.
