Rapidly growing population is a big challenge before the country, Rajasthan Health Minister Rajendra Rathore said at a function marking the World Population Day on Friday.
Addressing the state-level function here, Rathore said limited resources and rising population have disturbed the balance of the nature and should be controlled with awareness.
The government was making special efforts to spread the message in remote area and popularising family planning methods, he said. Efforts have been made to bring down Infant Mortality Rate and Mother Morality Rate by promoting institutionalised delivery, he said, adding that the state government has targeted to bring down IMR, which reduced to 49 in 2012 from 55 in 2010, to 32 in 2015.
