Rains failed to dampen the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (central) Arvind Kumar Padhee’s visit to the Posco-affected areas on Monday.
The RDC stressed sustainable development, health, education, employment, electricity, road communication and other social security measures for the project- affected people before initiation of Posco-related works.
The affected villagers of Nuagaon and Gadakujang panchayats were relieved to see the RDC giving more importance to implementation of development works than Posco.
Padhee visited the Posco transit colony where the families demanded a hike in maintenance allowance, construction of concrete road, boundary wall and toilets besides health services. He was accompanied by Collector Narayan Chandra Jena.
Secretary of United Action Committee, a pro-Posco outfit, Nirvaya Samantray demanded resettlement of the families at their native Patana village under Dhinkia panchayat.
Padhee, during his interaction with the people of Gadakujang panchayat, clarified that he was here to expedite the Government-run development works. He also inspected the proposed rehabilitation colony at Jokerpada in Polang and the new bridge at Baliyamara linking Posco areas with Ersama.
At Nuagaon, UAC president Anadi Rout sought immediate fulfilment of their 29 demands. Padhee said efforts are on to resolve issues concerning Posco through RPDAC meeting which will be held soon. He had to skip Gobindpur and Dhinkia following protests.
