BANGALORE: Minister for Energy, Food and Civil Supplies Shobha Karandlaje said that the state is tapping renewable sources of energy to meet the increasing demands for power.She was speaking on the occasion of ‘Rajiv Gandhi Akshay Urja Diwas’ organised by the Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited in association with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy here on Monday.She claimed that the state government intends to achieve its target of generating 200 MW of solar power by the end of the year 2016 and she also maintained that the stste government would soon come out with a solar policy.The minister added that some private companies which were permitted to generate solar energy have not yet begun their work.Shobha called upon the private investors to commence and complete the task within three to four years. “The non completion of work by private companies within the stipulated time will make it difficult for the state government,” the minister said.
