Melbourne: Andy Roddick proved that Roger Federer was not invincible when he stunned the world number one 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 to win the Kooyong Classic invitational on Saturday.
The American recorded his first win over the world number one since August 2003 to gain a huge psychological boost before the Australian Open, the season's first Grand Slam tournament, starting on Monday.
Federer had not been beaten since losing in the second round of the Cincinnati Masters to Briton Andy Murray last August, but this defeat will not count in the official records as the event is an exhibition.
