New Delhi: A daughter-in-law of the Panna royal family has been sentenced to six months' imprisonment for beating up her mother-in-law and three months' imprisonment for assaulting her sister-in-law in Chhatarpur in Madhya Pradesh.
Judicial Magistrate A K Pandey handed down the concurrent prison terms under different sections of the IPC to Jiteshwari Devi, wife of Yuvraj Raghvendra Singh.
A fine of Rs 200 was imposed on her in both the cases. Jiteshwari has expressed her intention to seek bail and appeal in a higher court in regard to the case.
According to the prosecution, Jiteshwari had beaten up her mother-in-law Maharani Dilhar Kumari and sister-in-law Krishna Kumar while they were getting some construction work done at Baharganj Kothi on January 22. She also threatened to kill them.
A complaint was lodged against her in the Mandala police station on the same day.
Annoyed with the complaint, Jiteshwari entered the Kothi with a sharp weapon and intending to kill her mother-in-law.
However, she escaped and lodged a complaint in the Panna Kotwali.
