HYDERABAD: The Planning Commission, which approved the state’s annual plan for the year 2012-13 for Rs.48,935 crore (13.8 per cent more than last year), has no objection for taking up Chevella-Pranahita and Polavaram projects, chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has said. Speaking to mediapersons in New Delhi on Wednesday, the chief minister said since most of the clearances had been obtained for the projects, there should be no problem for grounding the works. The chief minister said the Planning Commission had complimented the state for its fiscal management. It has cleared the projects proposed in the plan, he added.Referring to power shortage, he wanted the Centre to allocate more gas. As of now, the gas supply was sufficient to generate only 1,500 mw power. Once the inter-state power transmission corridor is in place, the government would be able to purchase more power from outside the state, he said. Even the NTPC’s new unit was working at 50 per cent capacity and the state was bearing a burden of Rs.100 crore for purchasing power.Planning Commission deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia told Kiran Reddy about the slowing down of growth rate.
