Colombo: The Sri Lankan Olympic Committee was grappling with last-minute glitches on Thursday on the eve of the 10th South Asian Games.
The Sugathadasa Stadium, venue of the inaugural ceremony, was being given final touches with some work still left to be done, the delay being attributed to the inclement weather.
However, with the skies clearing up, the workers were putting in extra time to ensure everything fell into place before Friday's grand ceremony.
The media centre appeared fairly well equipped but there was no air conditioner or even a fan, leaving the reporters sweating in heat and humidity.
Adding to the chaos was the fact that the schedule was yet to be prepared and no one had an inkling as to when exactly the opening ceremony would begin, leave alone the timings and scheduling of competitions.
An official with the National Olympic Committee said the "machine" was still being set up and the media guide would be made available shortly.
"Hopefully things will fall into place by tomorrow," Abdul Rasheed Shakoor, Pakistan-based Sports Correspondent (Urdu) of BBC World Service said.
"Things don't look very promising going by our experiences till now. The next few days are going to be a test of their organisational skills," he added.
