Mumbai: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan underwent a surgery for appendicitis at a hospital in the Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur.

The surgery has been completed successfully and the star is now resting, hospital sources said.

His condition was stable, said a staff at the Gleneagles Hospital, where the surgery was performed. "His condition is stable. He is sleeping now," said the nurse, who did not want to be identified due to the hospital’s policy.

Khan complained of acute abdominal pain on Wednesday and was rushed to the hospital, said a diplomat, who also did not wish to be identified.

Khan, accompanied by his Italian girlfriend Rosa, arrived on Wednesday from Melbourne, Australia, where he had performed at the closing ceremony of the Commonwealth Games.

Khan was in Malaysia to shoot for a Royal Stag commercial and was admitted to Kuala Lumpur's Gleneagles Hospital after he complained of acute stomach pain.

Doctors had advised him to undergo a surgery for appendicitis immediately as the infection was in an advanced state and there were chances that it might burst.

The national award winning actor was shooting for the ad along with girlfriend Rosa.
