SC dismisses petition against Yuvraj
An image management company had filed a petition to retain hold over Yuvraj Singh.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed a petition filed by an image management company seeking to retain hold over cricketer Yuvraj Singh for promotional activities.

Percept Talent Management Pvt Ltd had filed an appeal against the Bombay High Court judgment which had allowed the cricketer to move out of this company after the term of agreement was over.

A bench headed by Justice H K Sema declined contention of the company that after the expiry of the term Yuvraj had to inform it about the other group with which he was entering into an agreement so that it could have matched the offer.

”How can you violate the fundamental right granted under Article 19 (1) (g)," the bench also comprising Justice Markandey Katju observed adding, "It is freedom of occupation."

"You (Percept) had contract for three years. After that he is free man and you have no right to ask about other offer. It will violate Article 19 (1)(g) of the Constitution," the bench said.
