BHUBANESWAR: Senior journalist Pitabas Panda passed away here on Sunday. He was 47. His untimely demise shocked the media fraternity. Panda was ailing for sometime and was admitted to the SUM Hospital. Although he had showed signs of improvement, his condition deteriorated all of a sudden. The end came during wee hours of the day.He was Input Editor with popular Oriya news channel OTV and in overall charge of its news portal too.Panda, who started his journalistic career with Sun Times, had a long stint with The New Indian Express, Bhubaneswar. He is survived by his wife, a daughter and a son. The last rites were conducted at Swargadwar in Puri.Mourning Panda, Media Unity for Freedom of Press, a body of journalists, said he would be remembered for his sincerity and integrity.
