SEC officials hold meetings to discuss panchayat polls
The SEC had earlier proposed that the Panchayat polls be held in three phases and under the supervision of central forces for the sake of free and fair polls.

Kolkata: As the deadlock with West Bengal government heads for a point of no return, the State Election Commission on Sunday held meeting with its officials to discuss the next course of action regarding panchayat polls. State Election Commissioner Mira Pandey along with other senior officials of the commission on Sunday held parleys to discuss future course of action.

However, the officials remained tight lipped about the deliberations. The Trinamool-led government and the state election commission (SEC) had been at loggerheads over the schedule of the upcoming Panchayat polls, with the Bengal government announcing that the elections will be held in two phases and that too under the supervision of state police.
