A sessions court in Sehore has sentenced a youth to life imprisonment for raping a minor girl. Additional district judge Bhagwati Choudhary held Manglesh (22) guilty in the case and pronounced the verdict on him on Thursday, prosecution sources said. The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on the convict.

Manglesh had raped the seven-year-old girl on April 24 when she was returning after collecting mangoes from a farm at Maina village in the district, the sources said. The victim informed about the offence to her parents, who filed a complaint with the police following which the youth was nabbed. He was charged under sections of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012, they added.
