Setting up of KAT challenged in High Court

KOCHI: A petition was filed on Thursday before the Kerala High Court challenging the establishment of the Kerala Administrative Tribunal (KAT) and Justice K Balakrishnan Nair as its Chairman.Petitioner P Ananthappan Nair of Muvattupuzha submitted that the appointment of the chairman and his taking charge of office were without legal validity. “The appointment has been made in violation of mandatory legal requirement under the Administrative Tribunal Act,” the petitioner pointed out. He also sought a  direction to the state to recover the salary drawn by the chairman and other allotments and perks.
