KURNOOL: Seven persons died and 20 others injured in two separate accidents in Kurnool district on Wednesday. While four persons died in the mishap that occurred in the wee hours, three died in another incident late in the evening. The condition of six injured is critical. According to Nandyal DSP Naganna, about 50 labourers from Kanala village in Nandyal mandal went to Gundupapala village in Gospadu mandal for farm work on Wednesday.While returning home in a tractor in the evening, a speeding tipper coming in the opposite direction rammed into their vehicle near Chinthakunta.Due to the impact, the victims were thrown into different directions leading to severe injuries.Upon receiving information from the locals, the police rushed to the spot and found three labourers - Varalaxmi, P Kalavathi and Aruna dead on the spot.About 15 others who received severe injuries were shifted to Nandyal area hospital. The condition of five persons is said to be critical.The police fear that some more persons might have been injured and launched a search operation in the nearby bushes for the victims.In another incident, four persons died and the condition of one injured was stated to be critical after the auto in which they were travelling collided with a sand-laden tipper near Maddikera in Kurnool district on Wednesday.Six others suffered injuries. The auto, carrying 10 passengers, was on its way to Guntakal when the tipper collided with it.The auto overturned and passengers -- Lakshmi Devi (35), Anand (50) and Lakshmi Prasad (26) -- died on the spot. One passenger Eeramma (65) died while undergoing treatment in Guntakal government hospital.The injured were also receiving treatment in the same hospital and the condition of one Hanumanthu is stated to be serious. Pattikonda CI Sridhar told reporters that cops visited the place of mishap. Negligence on the part of the tipper driver led to the mishap, he said and added that the driver was absconding.A manhunt has been launched to nab him.
