Seven Pro-Posco activists arrested

PARADIP: Seven pro-Posco activists were arrested on Friday for illegal erection of bamboo gates to prevent entry of Posco and Idco officials to resume Posco work. Two such gates were demolished at Nuagaon and Gadakujang.Hundreds of these activists under the banner of Kunjbihari Gramya Surkhya Committee had erected barricades at the entry point of Gadakujang panchayat on August 18 restricting entry of officials to the project site.Those arrested have been identified as Niranjan Swain, Achut Das, Pravash Pallei, Srimant Parida, Bhusan Rout, Tusar Nayak and Narayan Parida.DSP Debdatta Singh said the arrests were made as the gates were erected by the activists despite warnings by police.
