KOCHI: The Kerala High Court has dismissed the bail applications of eight accused, including a CPM leader, in the Paravoor sex scandal.
"Sex with young girls has become the luxury of the rich and hunt for virgins gained momentum. Fear of AIDS may be the reason to avoid sex workers and seek young girls," Justice K T Sankaran said. The court dismissed the bail applications of Manaf, Pulikudy, Vengola, Manoj Gopi, Elavanthickal, Kattappana, Idukki, Manikantan of Kanyakumari, Mohammed Salih, Pulimoottil, Moovatupuzha, Unnikrishnan and Noby of Varkkala and Thomas Varghese of Mazhuvannoor. It is seen in the case diary that the girl was presented to the accused as fresh and upto `1 lakh was demanded by those who pimped her. But one of the accused, who found the girl not fresh, paid only `40,000. A perusal of case diary would reveal the height of sexual luxury some people enjoyed, the court said.
