THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Museum Police on Sunday arrested the man who had allegedly sexually abused his stepdaughter at the Raj Bhavan quarters here. Benzer, 33, the accused, and some of his friends had abused the girl for quite some years. The incident came to light after the girl revealed her plight to her teachers. The case was registered a couple of weeks ago and a special investigation team led by Museum CI was on search for the accused, who were absconding. Benzer, the first accused in the case, was arrested from a hideout at Panavoor. He had reached Panavoor a few days ago after hiding in Tamil Nadu, Ponmudi and Bonacaud. The police said Benzer was wanted in several cases registered at Valiyathura, Vettucaud and Veli police stations. The police had issued a lookout notice against the accused. Search is on to book the two other accused in the case, the police said. The investigation is being conducted by a team of officials including DCP VC Mohanan, Cantonment AC Haridas, Museum CI T Mohanan Nair, ASIs Sunil Lal and Manikandan and SCPOs Gopan and Santhosh.
