Showcause notice to Steel Company

BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Tuesday reportedly issued a showcause notice to Maharashtra Seamless Limited for non-implementation of a steel project as agreed to in the memorandum of understanding (MoU).The company, which signed the MoU with the Government on August 26, 2004 to set up a 0.48 mtpa steel mill, was allotted land at Kalinga Nagar. However, there has been little progress despite the company claiming to have invested ` 40 crore in the project.The MSL had proposed to set up the steel facility in two phases by investing ` 450 crore. It had also proposed to set up a CPP.The company has been given 30 days to reply to the notice issued by the Steel and Mines Department.
