New Delhi: The resignation of BJP Lok Sabha member Navjot Singh Sidhu from the House has not been accepted because it is not as per rules.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee was of the view that the resignation "cannot be accepted in its present form".
Soon after the court convicted him for a 1988 death, Sidhu sent his resignation to Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Rajnath Singh.
"I am offering my resignation as it is my moral duty and sent it to both the BJP president and L.K. Advani. I have also sent my resignation to the Lok Sabha speaker," the 43-year-old MP from Amritsar said.
