New Delhi: Delhi Lt Governor asked the secretaries to take ownership of the cleanliness drive to make it a success.
"You must take ownership of the cleanliness drive to make it successful," Jung said as he held a stock taking meeting with all departments.
Secretary of Urban Development briefed the LG about the cleanliness drive, administration of oath, special inspections carried out and spoke about the plans to involve industry associations, NGOs and others in the sanitation drives to be undertaken.
The Chief Secretary shared his own inspection reports of VAT and Excise offices, as also his visit to Om Vihar and Chanakya-place.
Officials of South DMC informed about the increase in garbage collection by 200 metric tonnes, as also about action being initiated against safai karmacharis not found on duty.
They have also initiated action against hoardings and have lodged 140 FIRs against violators.
Repairs have been carried out on 850 sq km of roads, 48 dhallaos, 173 urinals, 69 community toilets.
Officials of East DMC are observing a zero garbage hour, when no garbage shall be found in the dhallaos. In their areas, also repairs have been carried out in 23 community toilets.
The East DMC is also inducting 70 more auto-tippers and 30 more trucks to increase its capacity to collect garbage and North DMC have marked out 78 hotspots where garbage collection is more critical.
While reviewing the Education department, Jung said, "Cleanliness in schools is critical and unclean environment can lead to many a health hazards in children and there can be no let up on inspections of schools.
Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board (DUSIB) has identified critical places which require installation of mobile toilets, including bio-toilets while Delhi Jal Board gave a report on the inspections carried out as also complaints attended to in relation to sewer overflow.
Delhi Metro officials have initiated a drive around construction sites and have marked out 155 critical toilets which shall be monitored closely. They also identified 27 critical stations which require upgraded toilet facilities. They are also generating awareness about cleanliness through passenger information display system and posters.
