BANGALORE: The state government has asked the pre-university (PU) teachers who went on an eight-day strike in December to compensate their absence by taking classes on Sundays and holidays.Announcing this to the Media here on Tuesday after a meeting with the teacher’s organisations, Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri said other demands such as removing anomalies in pay scales and implementting pay commission recommendations will be discussed and decided in the budget.According to Kageri, PU teachers will henceforth put in more effort to provide education to students. “I hope that with this teacher-friendly decision, the pass percentage will improve,” the minister said. The II PU examination is scheduled to commence from March 16.
