THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Supreme Court on Wednesday told the Thiruvananthapuram principal sub-court not to intervene in matters related to the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple. The Supreme Court order comes against the backdrop of the sub-court order for opening the chamberfor taking utensils forpoojas. The Supreme Court observed that two courts considering the same case would complicate the issue. “Those who have any complaints regarding the Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple’s wealth should approach the apex court,” it said. The principal sub-court had allowed the temple administration to take the pooja utensils in gold and silver for ‘ani kalabham’ and ‘adi perunthamruth pooja’ on January 8 and had asked to return them on January 25. But the temple administration did not return the pooja utensils. On January 23, the executive officer filed an interim application before the sub-court to take out more utensils from the temple vaults, from February 5 to 16. He stated that it was mandatory to conduct atonement rituals in connection with the ‘devaprasnam’ conducted in August 2011. The principal sub-court had also dismissed an interim application to the executive officer of the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple on February 9 to handover the pooja utensils taken out from the temple in connection with the ‘makara sheeveli’ rituals, as per the order on December 22, 2011. In a counter petition filed by N Vishwambharan and R Padmanabhan, the court directed the advocate commission to file a report on February 13, 2012 and also directed the executive officer to file an affidavit complying with the courtorder on the same day.
