Tension at VSS Medical over babys death

BURLA: Tension gripped VSS Medical College and Hospital here after medicos allegedly beat up three BJD leaders, including Burla town BJD president Sisir Dandia and Burla NAC vice-chairman Debendra Kumar Pradhan on the premises of paediatric ward on Wednesday.The critically injured Sisir, Debendra and another identified as Rinku Sahu have been admitted to a private nursing home.The incident flared up after one of the twins born to a couple Himansu Padhi and Sujata, residents of Central Line in Burla, died after being admitted to the neo-natal centre allegedly due to the negligence of doctors.The condition of the other baby also deteriorated following delay in medical attention.Sources said Himansu asked a PG student in the paediatric ward to attend to his ailing baby but he misbehaved with Himansu and an heated exchange ensued between the two.Later, the PG student also entered into a verbal duel with Sisir who had gone to see the infant along with Debendra and Rinku and allegedly manhandled Sisir.Meanwhile, the PG student informed his friends about the incident and hundreds of medical students congregated and beat up the three.
