France: On a rush-hour underground train at crowded Saint-Michel Metro station in Paris a gas-canister bomb explodes, killing eight and injuring 86.

Russia: Bomb explodes on the Moscow tube, killing four.

Sri Lanka: Two bombs explode on commuter train in Colombo, Sri Lanka, killing at least 57 and injuring 450.

India: Bomb explodes in a packed train in Assam, killing 300.

Philippines: Bomb explodes in the front coach of a train pulling into a station in Philippine capital, Manila, killing 11.

Angola: UNITA rebels kill 252 in attack on passenger train south of Angolan capital, Luanda.

South Korea: At least 125 killed in an arson attack on two crowded subway trains in South Korean city of Taegu.
