HYDERABAD: An accused in property thefts who was produced before the media on Thursday at the old commissioner's office, created a stir by alleging that police had taken away part of the recovered booty. The person also smashed a window in the office before he was whisked away. In the melee, the police vehicle ran into a two-wheeler.The Central Zone deputy commissioner of police Tarun Joshi held a press conference on Thursday to announce the arrests of 20-year-old Mir Kazam Ali Khan, an interior design businessman from Toli Chowki and three others, Mir Qudrath Ali Khan alias Khadeer, Mohd Rawoof alias Hafeez and K Ashok, a catering businessman from Bandlaguda for property thefts. Police had recovered 1.14 kg gold, a Scorpio, three two-wheelers, Rs 3.50 lakh cash and some household articles worth Rs 40 lakh.According to police, the gang conducts recce of locked houses. After breaking the locks at night, they leave their footwear outside the house and switch on television, lights and other electrical appliances and commit theft of gold and other valuables.While the accused were being presented before the media, Kazam Ali created a flutter by alleging that some policemen had taken away a share of the booty. “They took away Rs 10 lakh cash and one kg gold," he shouted before being whisked away by police.
