BANGALORE: What other way can one find to fill up the half-baked knowledge of students about the business world, other than merely reading the latest by acclaimed author Subroto Bagchi?“MBA At 16 - A Teenager's Guide To Business" that was launched recently at Jagriti Theatre, Whitefield, helps in moulding such ideas into school students. Much of the content of Bagchi's fourth book of the trilogy is based on the workshop he had with 31 students of National Public School, Bangalore.The book has adaptations from daily classroom scenes and even situations at home and has a mixture of both reality and fantasy. Eight students out of the thirty one who were present there, read out paragraphs from the book at the book launch. The students spoke to audience about how Subroto Bagchi helped them change their thoughts and ideas about business.Ideas like youngsters being the face of the nation, the progress of our country and respect for thoughts of the young adults was brought out.Bagchi spoke about the factors that motivated him in order to write the book. He called upon the teachers, parents and others present in the audience to share their views on the few paragraphs he and the students read out.His previous books include The High Performance Entrepreneur, Go Kiss The World and The Professional that have been translated into many languages.'MBA at 16', targeted to the young adults, had readers from different age-groups flipping through the pages of the book. "Parents want to know what their kids are reading," said Bagchi. "We have to weave business ideas into this upcoming generation. This book is not a textbook, but is to arouse their curiosity. It is not for teaching, but for opening their eyes. It is sometimes fascinating, sometimes dark," said Bagchi. He believes that it is critical to treat them with respect and provide them with useful information outside textbooks. A world without business is a world impossible to him.During his interaction with a City Express, he said, "My thoughts on how the new generation could be the face of the business world, was the key factor that got me to write this book. Achievement is overrated. Instead of trying to reach the top, this generation should try to mould India into a better country."To do so, he suggests talking to them regularly about business as they tend to pick up information from random sources leaving them not fully aware.The audience also had an interactive session with the author.
