This Unique Ritual At Salem's Muniyappa Swami Temple Is Believed To Fulfill Wishes

Hindus in India worship various gods and goddesses. Many visit the temples in hopes of their prayers coming true and when it does, they offer chadar, flowers, crowns and much more. It reinstates their faith in the deity and they keep visiting with more prayers. One such deity is Muniyappa Swami.

In Tamil Nadu, the people worship Muniyappa Swami, a deity who is depicted with a sickle in hand and a fierce moustache. He is considered to be a powerful God and hence the people believe that it is customary to offer sacrifices to the God as part of the worship. In Salem’s Kukkai, a temple dedicated to Muniyappa Swami has been built.

In Kukkai, devotees follow a unique tradition where they tie Rs 11 in a yellow cloth and offer it to the lord with prayer, believing that this ritual will fulfil all their wishes. Located on the southern bank of the Thirumanimuthaaru River in the heart of Salem city, the temple of Muniappan is renowned for resolving issues such as land disputes, marriage problems, and business difficulties. It is widely believed that after worshipping Muniyappa, their wishes will be granted within 40 days.

A devoted claimed that they learned about Muniyappa Swami from other devotees who have shared that unresolved problems get solved right after visiting the temple. One had a long-standing land dispute, while another had court cases pending for a long time. After going through a lot of mental stress, devotees visited the temple and prayed for a resolution. “Within 40 days, our land issue was completely resolved. Even though it was surprising, it was true.” Therefore, they have begun to believe that Muniyappa Swami possesses great power.

The faith of devotees has been instilled and people are coming up with new requests. Now, devotees are wishing for other requests after their previous wishes come true. They have placed faith that their other requests and wishes will be fulfilled too.
