Three police jawans were killed and 12 others injured when their matador overturned in Naxal- hit Kondagaon district of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, police said.
The mishap took place near Sirpur village on NH-30 under Farasgaon police station limits this evening, Kondagaon Additional Superintendent of Police Surjeet Atri said.
The matador, carrying around 16 police personnel, most of them trainees, was returning to Bodgaon Police Training School (PTS) from Kondagaon town.
Near Sirpur, the driver lost control over the vehicle following which it overturned, leaving three police personnel dead and a dozen others wounded, Atri said.
"Two jawans died on the spot while another succumbed to injuries while being taken to hospital," he added.
The deceased, all constables, were identified as Babulal, Amit Singh (both of Surajpur district) and Kamlesh Markam of Bastar district.
The injured were admitted to a local hospital from where those in serious condition were shifted to Raipur for further treatment, he said.
