Ties with India linked to Kashmir: OIC
Relation with India cannot improve only if it continues to have trouble with Pakistan, says report.

Islamabad: The Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) has said that its links with India depend on a 'just settlement' of the Kashmir issue with Pakistan.

The OIC Secretary General's report on political issues presented to the body's senior officials' meeting in Jeddah said positive relations between the OIC and India could not be achieved as long as there were tensions between India and Pakistan over the Kashmir issue.

"Positive relations between the OIC and India could not be achieved as long as there were tensions between Pakistan and India and without a just solution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with international legality," said the secretary general, in reference to India being granted observer status at the OIC.

Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, in its statement however, said that the OIC meeting expressed support for the Indo-Pak peace process and hoped that the dialogue would lead to the final settlement of all outstanding issues for peaceful, stable and prosperous environment in South Asia.

It said that the OIC also supported the agreement on additional bus service between Rawalakot in Pakistan and Poonch district in India.

Talks were held at the meeting about starting a new truck service between Muzaffarabad and Srinagar, for furthering bilateral relations, said the report.
