Tiruchy gears up to greet daughter of soil

TIRUCHY: The Rock City is gearing up to welcome the daughter of the soil, Chief Minister  and AIADMK general secretaray J Jayalalithaa, who will be here on a three-day visit from Sunday. Party sources said, the Chief Minister, is arriving at her native, Srirangam, on Sunday.  A special pooja would be performed at Sri Ranganathaswamy temple in Srirangam, immediately after her arrival.Subsequently, a special pooja would also be performed by the cadre for the well being of the Chief minister.Jayalalithaa will open her MLA office followed by a function at Mela Chithirai Veedhi, where she would disburse welfare assistance and inaugurate various schemes.On Monday and Tuesday (June 20 and 21), she will go round her constituency to thank the voters.Tiruchy has began to sport a festive look and residents are happy as repair works are being undertaken on various roads and the medians on all arterial stretches are being whitewashed.A huge dais is being erected at Mela Chithirai Veedhi  and the Additional Director General of Police S George along with Inspector Genereal  (Central Zone) KC Mahai, City Commissioner of Police E Ma Masanamuthu and other higher police officials inspected the meeting venue on Friday evening. Elaborate security was made.
