CHENNAI: The Madras High Court has directed the Registry to number a petition seeking to intervene in a criminal original petition, which prayed for a direction to the Koyambedu police to register an FIR on a complaint against DMDK leader Vijayakant.Originally, advocate Gnanamuthu lodged a complaint with the Koyambedu police seeking action against Vijayakant for his alleged utterances at a press conference against the privilege proceedings initited by the State Assembly against him. Aggrieved, advocate S Namo Narayanan, also secretary of the North Chennai unit of the DMDK, filed the present petition to reject Gnanamuthu’s plea. “Gnanamuthu had filed the petition to gain cheap publicity and political mileage. The averments in his petition were imaginary and false,” Narayanan contended.Granting permission, Justice Mala directed the Registry to number Narayanan’s petition seeking to invervene in the case.
