Railways has decided not allow entry of people other than passengers at the platform.

New Delhi: Three days after the inferno on the Pakistan-bound Samhjauta Express claimed 68 lives, the security measures at Old Delhi Railway Station have been heightened to unprecedented levels.

As the train readies to re-ply from old Delhi Railway station Wednesday night onwards, Railways has decided not allow entry of people other than passengers at the platform.

However, platform number has not been revealed for security reasons.

Among the other restrictions, the passengers will also not be allowed to carry more than 40 kg luggage and the unreserved apartment will not be attached with the train that leaves for Atari on Wednesday.

Also, there will be only eight compartments - as opposed to Sunday night’s 14 - and all of them would be second class reserved coaches.

There will be two sealed luggage vans as against the four vans earlier.

"Yes, we have taken these measures keeping in mind the security aspect," CPRO, Northern Railway, Rajiv Saxena was quoted by PTI as saying.

Saxena also said that two CCTV cameras have been installed on the station.

More personnel will also be deployed on the train and due care has been taken while issuing tickets at the Special Counter at Old Delhi Railway Station, he said.
