New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday quizzed Sohrabuddin Sheikh's brother Rubabuddin Sheikh as a witness in the Tulsiram Prajapati fake encounter case.
Prajapati was a witness to the alleged fake encounter killing of Sohrabuddin Sheikh by the Gujarat Police in November 2005. The CBI had alleged that Sohrabuddin, Kauser Bi and another person, suspected to be Prajapati, were picked up by a team of Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh Police in a joint operation from a bus on its way to Sangli in Maharashtra from Hyderabad on November 22, 2005.
Sohrabuddin was allegedly gunned down in an encounter by the Gujarat Police's Anti-Terrorist Squad. The policemen are also accused of killing Kauser Bi and Prajapati to destroy evidence.
The encounter killings of Tulsiram Prajapati and Sohrabuddin Sheikh have led to questions against Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi key aide Amit Shah himself as he was the state's home minister in Gujarat at the time of killings.
