HYDERABAD: The tussle between the Guntur urban and rural superintendents of police over occupying a bungalow has put a DSP in the dock.Though the DSP (Special Branch), Jagadeeshwar Reddy, had nothing to do with the tussle between his superior officers, he, reportedly without any instructions from his senior officers, went about briefing the local media that the ‘’issue was settled and that the DGP asked both the officers to share the bungalow.’’Sources told Express that after going through media reports over the tussle and the DSP’s briefing, an angry director-general of police V Dinesh Reddy is understood to have pulled up the official asking him what business he had to ‘’poke his nose’’ in the affair concerning his senior officers.‘’He is being summoned to the DGP’s office and an explanation will be sought for him based on which further action may be initiated against him,’’ the sources said.Though it was strange enough for a DSP-rank officer to brief the media about the tussle between the two SPs _ Ravichandra (Guntur Rural) and Syamsundar (Guntur Urban) _ what angered the senior officials was that there was no need for the DSP to create further confusion. Moreover, he was not entitled to brief the media. The two SPs and IGP (Guntur Range) Harish Kumar Gupta met the DGP here on Saturday to sort out the matter. After hearing both sides, the DGP directed Ravichandra to vacate the bungalow within a month after which Syamsundar can move in there.Syamsundar and Ravichandra also met principal secretary (home) P Gautam Kumar and some other officers in the Secretariat.Presenting his case, Syamsundar, a 2005- batch IPS officer belonging to Kerala, said that as per the written orders issued when the Guntur police district was bifurcated into urban and rural, the Urban SP is the one who will occupy the bungalow. To this, Ravichandra is understood to have said that he got permission from the then DGP K Aravinda Rao to stay put in the bungalow as his promotion as DIG was just a few months away. However, since the written orders were in the favour of the urban SP and with Syamsundar being posted there in that capacity, Ravichandra was asked to vacate. The DGP also viewed seriously that both officers were fighting it out in full media glare which showed the force in poor light.
