BANGALORE: Director of television serials Hiriyur Raghavendra on Saturday allegedly attempted suicide by taking overdose of tranquillizers at a press meet organized by himself.
Raghavendra, director of TV serial Kaarthika Deepa, had arranged a press conference to narrate his problems. While journalists were assembling at the Green House for the press meet, Raghavendra collapsed. A few journalists rushed him to Desai Nursing Home and later shifted him to Mallige Medical Centre. It is learnt that Raghavendra was not happy with noncooperation of a few artistes. Sudha Raghavendra, producer of the serial, has said that they have incurred a loss of `80 lakh by it. "I have no complaints against artistes. I requested my husband to stop the tele serial, but in vain," she said. However, Upparpet police claimed that Raghavendra did not attempt suicide but collapsed due to health problems. No case has been registered. "As of now, his health condition is stable," a doctor said.
