Police on Monday arrested two alleged arms dealers after seizing a Mauser pistol and 29 live cartridges from their possession at Sikandra Toll plaza in Dausa district, about 75 kms from Jaipur. The Special Operation Group (SOG) team intercepted Girdhari Lal Sharma and Jyotiprakash Singh Jodha while they were coming from Uttar Pradesh with arms and ammunition in a car, DIG-SOG Vishal Bansal said.
A highly sophisticated Mauser pistol with silencer, 19 live cartridges of 32 bore, and 10 live cartridges of 315 bore were seized from their possession, the DIG said. Both accused belong to Pratapnagar area of Jaipur, and Girdhari has a criminal record and is named in several cases of murder, loot and property dispute lodged in many police stations of Jaipur including Harmara, Pratapnagar, and Sanganer, the police official said.
Their car was also seized from the spot, he added. A high-level probe to ascertain their link to arms supply was underway by SOG, Bansal said.
