Undertrial prisoner assaults convict

BANGALORE: An undertrial prisoner allegedly assaulted a convict at the Parappana Agrahara Central Prison on Sunday evening. Pradisha, the convict who sustained minor injuries in the incident, was given treatment.According to the prison officials, Pradisha was deputed as the watchman of  the barrack where undertrials, Althaf and Shafi, were kept. Three days ago, the duo had picked up a quarrel with the cAonvict, but they were pacified. On Sunday evening again, they locked horns over a trivial issue and in a fit of rage, Althaf allegedly threw a tumbler on Pradisha’s faceand the latter sustained injuries. Immediately, the jail staff intervened and the situation was brought under control.“Undertrials are given the job of cleaning the barracks of convicts. Sometimes, it leads to fight between them. Such small tiffs have become common in the jail,”  prison sources said.
