BHUBANESWAR: The State Government on Saturday said it would inquire into the ban on the entry of Dalits into a temple in Bramhagiri area of Puri district and take steps to resolve the issue. “We will look into it and see how the matter can be resolved,” Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik told mediapersons, a day after Chairman of National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) L Punia visited the temple premises at Ranapada village and criticised the State Government for prevalence of the social evil. Punia along with senior NCSC officials visited the village on the banks of Chilika lake on Friday after getting information on the practice of untouchability there. The Commission would also seek a report from the State Government asking it to explain as to why law had not been enforced to protect the interests of the Dalits. The matter would also be taken up with the State police chief and other authorities concerned.
